Installation Problems!  Xob at 02:39 on Friday, May 05, 2006

Hi,

I was installing the lastest version of JDK on XPSP2 platform and encountered this error message:

"Java Update cannot be installed on this machine because the directory you have chosen to installed is locked. Please close any brower or application that is using the directory you have chosen for installation."

I have no browsers opened or any programs that can "use the chosen directory". I tried to change the directory but it didn't help. I checked the \ProgramFiles\Java folder, it was empty, nothing was copied; however, when it tried to reinstall JDK, it said the software had been installed already and I had to remove it first in order to reinstall!

Pls help, thanks a lot.
