Hello, All
This might sound very weak, but i'm a noobie to javascript.
I was wondering if anybody could tell me how to split an
array twice, I'll explain this the best way i can...
I have a *.js file with the following code..
var h="$bob*test*text*5777*coffee$paul*test*text*6321*tea";
that is an example, the first thing i want to do is split
the string at the "$" character, the amount of "$" characters
will change (there could be 1 or 15). I also want to split the "*" characters into an array, but the amount of "*" characters will
always be 4. i need to name the arrays (ie New_Array[0]=s1;),
so that i can add them to html tags. So,
document.write("<span ID="+s1+">"); would write the split array into
the html tag.
Thanks for reading, any help or links in the right direction would be great.
P.S : If you don't understand what i'm getting at, don't worry i'm not sure i completely understand it either.

Here is something i've tried..
<script>
var h ="$*bob*test*text*4433*coffee$*paul*test*text*5354*tea"
var z = h.split("$");
for (var i=0; i < z.length; i++)
var sz=z.split("*");
document.write(sz[5]);
</script>
But it only writes in "tea", not "tea" and "coffee", also i need to make them into an array.
Something like ..
s=new Array();
sz[5]=s1;
so in the html i could put "<span>"+s1+"</span>"
But i'm not really sure how it's done.
