Right i've got my javascript and i know it works in terms of the validation. however my problem is i've changed my submit button from just the bog standard button into an image. So of course i've chagned the type in the html. However the javascript checks the form, says there's nothing in it then sends it off.
is this because of the fact i've changed my type from submit to image?

Not enough information to help you. Just the fact that you changed from type=submit to a type=image doesn't seem to me it would cause this problem. Can you post enough of your form and validation code for us to look at it?
